Ami Lodge is a graduate of Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance, where she gained a Masters in Performance with distinction under the instruction of Margaret Campbell, principal flute at the Royal Opera House. Whilst at Trinity, she participated in masterclasses with renowned flautists including Emily Beynon, Jonathan Snowden and Karen Jones, as well as performing alongside players from the Philharmonia Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Welsh National Opera in the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra side-by-side schemes. She was a winner of the Harold Clark Woodwind Soloists competition in May 2015 and also received the Michael Hirst award for Trinity flautists in 2016.
Since graduating, Ami has continued her work teaching the flute for a number of schools in Surrey, whilst also freelancing in London and the surrounding area: she is a regular performer amongst various orchestras in London, a member of the London Sylvan Ensemble and also plays in pit bands for musicals and operatic productions. Ami has continued her professional training privately with various teachers as well as participating in the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in 2017 on piccolo under the direction of Marin Alsop, performing at the Royal Festival Hall and Snape Maltings in Aldeburgh. She also took part in the Emerging Artists scheme run by Westminster Opera Company, playing productions of operas in the setting of a chateâu in west France. As well as building her freelancing career, Ami is currently also auditioning for professional orchestral positions in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
Born in Wales in 1993, Gabriella Jones began harp lessons age 12. Her local music service played a huge role in her musical education, allowing her to tour with the Youth Orchestra to Germany and Poland, as well as make her concerto debut at 15 in Birmingham Symphony Hall.
As a Park Lane Group Young Artist 2018/19 Gabriella made her debut at the Southbank Centre in 2019. Winner of the City Livery Club Special Music Prize 2018, 2017/18 John Marson Harp Prize, and Finalist at the Camac Harp Competition 2018, Gabriella is currently studying as a Leverhulme Scholar at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, under the tutorship of Gabriella Dall’Olio. Since commencing her Masters studies Gabriella has been fortunate to make her debut at St-Martin-In-The-Fields and Wigmore Hall.
Gabriella has received masterclasses from Marie-Pierre Langlemet, Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, Sylvain Blassel, Fabrice Pierre, and Heidi Krutzen. She has played under the baton of Antonio Pappano, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Yan Pascal Tortelier with several London based orchestras, such as Melos Sinfonia, Shadwell Opera, Hampstead Garden Opera, Philharmonia Britannica, Fulham Opera, in several venues such as St. Johns Smith Square and Barbican. Gabriella has a love of opera and was invited in 2016 to perform Britten’s Albert Herring with Opera de Baugé in France.
In addition, Gabriella is one half of A Deux, whom won the Ensemble Category of the Camac Harp Competition 2016, as well as being invited to the Tunnell Trust for Young Musicians Course and Concert Series on the Isle of Coll in 2017. As a flute and harp duo they focus on transcribing music to broaden their capacity as an ensemble as well as extend the current repertoire.
Gabriella is enormously grateful for the support she has received from Help Musicians UK, The Laura Ashley Foundation, The Leverhulme Trust, and Trinity College London, without this assistance completing her studies wouldn’t be possible.
