  1. Sonata for keyboard in A H 186; Wq 55 No 4 - Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
  2. Sonata for Piano No 17 in D minor Op 31 No 2 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  3. Fantasy in C, 'Wandererfantasie' D 760 - Franz Schubert

Russian pianist, Anna Tsybuleva, winner of the 2015 Leeds International Piano Competition, performs two of the greatest works for piano. Schubert’s Byronic ‘Wanderer’ Fantasie is one of his most technically demanding pieces, describing a melancholic search for happiness. Beethoven’s ‘Tempest’ sonata expresses his despair at his encroaching deafness and his desire to fulfil his creative destiny with its two contrasting opening themes fighting for dominance. To begin is a delightful, Haydn-esque sonata by Carl Phillipp Emanuel Bach.

Each concert lasts an hour. Tickets include tea, coffee and cake before or after the concert.
