Der Freischütz (The Huntsman's Bride) by Carl Maria von Weber

Sung in English, Opera at Bearwood's next production is The Huntsman's Bride (Der Freischutz). One of the most extraordinary operas in the entire operatic canon. Replete with ravishing melodies, it's crazy plot about a hunter who deals with the devil in order to get magic bullets so he can win a shooting match and win the girl. It comes over somewhat like a cross between The Bartered Bride, Faust and Ruddigore and even has a chorus of bridesmaids as well as the more famous and well known Huntsman's Chorus. Rarely performed, this is an opportunity to hear and see a whole production locally. Please note change of theatre from previous productions.
