William Byrd Anniversary Concert

This is the Stondon Singers' annual tribute to William Byrd, arguably one of England's greatest composers, taking place in Stondon Massey, where Byrd lived for the last thirty years of his life. The theme for this year's event is Byrd and his Spanish contemporaries.

The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul is small and atmospheric, and Byrd is said to be buried in the churchyard, but exactly where remains a mystery. There is nearby parking, toilet facilities inside the church, and we also provide interval refreshments for a small donation.

The Stondon Singers recently celebrated their 50th anniversary year. Recent comments on performances include 'impressive level of musicianship', 'performed with immaculate styling', and 'a refreshingly assertive, open sound'.
