  1. Christmas carols - Traditional

Start your Christmas celebrations early with The Bach Choir and special guests London City Brass, as we perform our annual evening of festive Christmas music at Cadogan Hall. Christmas carols and festive cheer guaranteed!

A selection of some of the best carols old and new, and of course plenty of opportunity to stretch the vocal cords and join The Bach Choir in singing your favourites – also featuring the winning entry in the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition by Ruth Sellar.

Ruth Sellar, a First Class Honours graduate from Kings College London, has won the second year of the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition with her composition ‘The snow lies thick’. David Hill, Musical Director of The Bach Choir says of this new carol: “Ruth’s carol is very well written; it was the stand-out choice and a very worthy winner of the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition. We look forward very much to performing it.”

This is the second Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition, which is now held each year as a memorial to Sir David Willcocks, who was musical director of The Bach Choir for 38 years from 1960-1998, and conductor laureate thereafter until his death in 2015. The cash prize is provided by the David Willcocks Music Trust
