Our opening concert of the 2018/19 season invites you to Escape to Italy!

It features music by two native Italian composers, which contrasts with views of Italy by Northern Europeans. The works by Tchaikovsky and Elgar were both written after visits to Italy. Puccini's La bohème is one of the great Italian operas - passionate and tragic, while Respighi's tone poem moves from the gentlest of nightingales to the awesome power of the Roma Legions.
