David Shaw is 21 and originally comes from North Wales. He now resides in London, and enjoying his third year at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studies with So Ock Kim.

He has given many recitals throughout the UK, Italy, Germany ,Hungary and Norway. In 2009, David was the youngest musician ever to have reached the final of Texaco Young Musician of Wales. As a result of this, David was invited to perform in ‘One Thousand Christmas Voices’ in Llangollen , which was televised on S4C.

David has performed concertos with Orchestras such as the Cardiff Symphony orchestra, the Chester Philharmonic, and more recently, the Welsh Chamber Orchestra.

David has a great passion for chamber music, and his quartet has performed in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Kingsplace , Dingley music festival, Norwich chamber music festival. David was recently invited to perform at Musique a Marsac and Wye Valley chamber music festival, and looks forward to joining the Doric string quartet on the Isle of Mull this summer.

Outside of his life as a classical violinist, David is working on a number of creative projects, which marry his passions for violin, singing and visual art. David recently performed three shows at the Gothenburg fringe festival, singing and playing music he had composed alongside 5 dancers, and looks forward to more artistic endeavours!
