The bandoneon is widely recognised as one of tango music’s key instruments but its original, lesser-known purpose was as a portable organ to take religious music to the streets of 18th century Germany. However, it soon reached as far as the dives and dance halls of Argentina, to create the most seductive dance we know!

Devised by virtuoso bandoneon player Omar Massa, Hellensmusic 2018’s inaugural concert suggests a musical journey from the instrument’s baroque origins to its stellar role in tango, particularly in Piazzolla’s music.
