Musicke in the Ayre return to St Stephens after a three-year absence with a soprano duo from Bristol making their debut with the ensemble: Heidi Couper and Ruth Bamfield will be singing arias and duets from the dawn from the baroque in 17th century Italy, accompanied by Din Ghani on archlute and baroque guitar (both made by him). In marking the 400th anniversary of the death of one of the pioneers of the early Baroque, Giulio Caccini, the programme also includes songs by his daughter Francesca who published her own book of music in the same year, by their Florentine colleague and fellow pioneer Jacopo Peri, and by others who followed such as Frescobaldi, Monteverdi and Strozzi.

Entry is free, with a reitring collection.
