An explosive festival finale, Handel’s virtuosic and vivacious Dixit Dominus is brimming with youthful drama and energy, full of flourishes for choir and orchestra, performed alongside his famous coronation anthem Zadok the Priest. Handel’s music is complemented by Henry Purcell’s anguished Lord, how long wilt that be angry? a kaleidoscope of chromatic invention, and the triumphant Rejoice in the Lord alway.
