  1. St John Passion BWV 245 - Johann Sebastian Bach

James Gilchrist's yearning tenor as Evangelist is joined by David Shipley's commanding voice as Christus in this performance of JS Bach's epic St John Passion. Westminster Cathedral is the perfect place to hear this beautiful and moving work, so close to Easter with all the pain of the Passion and the promised glory of the Resurrection.

Westminster Cathedral Choir is joined by the Orchestra of Westminster Cathedral, conducted by Martin Baker. The Cathedral Choir is renowned as one of the world's best choirs, consisting of 25 boy trebles and 10 professional men. They sing in the Cathedral every day of the week, and their tradition is firmly rooted in the beauty of plainchant, which Pope Pius X defined as the touchstone against which all other forms of church music should be measured.
