A programme of passionate and richly harmonic music, shaped by the deep and intensely personal faith of its composers. Swiss Calvinist Frank Martin’s Mass for double choir is enveloped by a selection of Scottish Catholic James MacMillan’s Strathclyde Motets. These are balanced by MacMillan’s secular and dreamy Robert Burns’s arrangements, So deep, and The gallant weaver, ending with the scintillating O sacrum convivium by French composer, Pierre Villette.
