  1. Overture to 'William Tell' - Gioachino Rossini
  2. Concerto for double bass and orchestra No 2 in B minor - Giovanni Bottesini
  3. Symphony No 1 in B flat minor - Sir William Walton

Although almost two hundred years old, Rossini’s William Tell Overture has lost none of its appeal and vigour. It is one of the most recognisable pieces of classical music, having featured in films from Disney to A Clockwork Orange and of course as the theme tune to The Lone Ranger TV series. We continue to showcase our lower strings with a charming double bass concerto, and the evening closes triumphantly with Walton’s First Symphony.
