  1. Les Biches (Ballet Suite) - Francis Poulenc
  2. An American in Paris - George Gershwin
  3. Symphony No 3 in A minor Op 44 - Sergey Rachmaninov

To begin our new season, let us transport you to a former time: France of the 1920s. We open at a glamorous, flirty house party described in Poulenc’s ballet music. The concert takes a jazzy turn to create the atmosphere and energy of Paris with Gershwin’s symphonic poem, music later used in the film of the same name (and now on the West End stage). We remain in the early 20th century with Rachmaninov’s Third Symphony.
