'The Spangled Heavens' is the second in our series of concerts featuring a celestial theme. This time we have a sparkling programme featuring many different styles and genres, with music composed in the 12th century through to a pair of new comissions written especially for us. Deborah Miles-Johnson, founder and conductor, and herself pretty starry on the opera stage and in concert halls, gives the concerts a magical flavour which exploits the accomplished musicianshipship of this all-women ensemble.

In this programme Gloriana is delighted to premier new pieces written with our forces in mind, including Perfect Light by Kim Porter, alongside starry music by Holst, Whitacre, Dvorák, Schubert and Armstrong Gibbs. There will be celestially inspired readings by radio presenter Charlotte Green, our patron, and the programme also includes Elgar’s The Snow, featuring international violinist Serena Leader.
