The highly acclaimed young pianist, conductor and composer, Alissa Firsova, by popular demand returns to West Road Concert Hall this Friday October 27th for a recital combining major romantic works with lighter miniatures.
Building on the success of her Vivat release Russian Emigres, which featured works by Rachmaninov, her parents, and herself, Alissa has built on her passion and exploration of work by Russian composers by featuring piece from Rachmaninov, Glinka, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. Alongside are works by Liszt, Schumann and Chopin.
This is Alissa’s last major event of 2017 in the UK, and she is tremendously looking forward to returning to Cambridge this October:
"I'm so excited to be returning to the West Road Concert Hall with a few Russian, German and French gems. As a tribute to Wagner, I will be playing Liszt's Lugubre Gondola with echoes of the Venetian waters and transcending into his tantalising transcription of Liebestod. As well as Prokofiev's epic 7th Sonata, there'll also be a few lighter miniatures by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Glinka/Balakirev's delightfully chirpy Skylark, topped off with Schumann and Chopin masterpieces."
