Cardiff Bach Choir presents a feast of seasonal music to start the countdown to Christmas. Music by two of the great 18th century composers , Mozart and Haydn, together with music by two of the 20th Century's most popular composers ,Vaughan Williams and John Rutter, ensures there is something to suit all tastes. The choir, under the baton of Musical Director Luke Spencer, is accompanied by the British Sinfonietta and organist Philip Aspden.

The concert opens with the Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols with soloist Philip Lloyd-Evans which gets us into the festive mood before we move to the 18th Century with Mozart Solemn Vespers with its sublime Laudate Dominum and Soloist Eirlys Myfanwy Davies.

The second half of the programme opens with the joyful Haydn St Nicholas Mass with all four of our soloists opening in grand style with the Kyrie. This is followed by three of John Rutters more unusual carols : Shepherds Pipe Carol, The Candlelight Carol and to ensure that the audience are sent on their way full of Christmas Cheer 'We wish You Christmas'

All of our soloists are regular performers on the concert stage in Wales. Gail Pearson first sang with Cardiff Bach Choir when she was a student at the University of Wales School of Music. Eirlys returns for her third concert with us after giving an acclaimed perfomance in Karl Jenkins Stabat Mater in 2016, Philip Lloyd Evans is a regular performer with WNO and returns for his second concert with us. We welcome Paul Badley for his first performance with Cardiff Bach Choir but he is a well known peformer in the Cardiff area.
