The Orchestra's patron, Vladimir Ashkenazy, returns to Oxford following a captivating concert of Brahms last season. Continuing this season's Russian focus, both Rachmaninov and Shostakovich feature once again, here with Concertmaster Natalia Lomeiko as soloist for Shostakovich's thrilling first violin concerto followed by Rachmaninov's powerful Symphony No 1.

The concert will open with Nimrod Borenstein's If you will it, it is no dream, a work recorded by the Oxford Philharmonic and Vladimir Ashkenazy last year and recently released on the Chandos label.
