Astor Piazzolla’s evocative Histoire du tango has become one of his most cherished and performed works and has been adopted by performers of diverse instruments. The multi-award-winning Spanish flautist Pedro López showcases the piece here on the instrument for which it was originally conceived, alongside other works by Rodrigo and Schubert. López has performed worldwide, including appearances at Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), Royal Opera House (London), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona) and Barbican (London) among others. He is accompanied on the piano by rising star Panaretos Kyriatzidis, recent winner of the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform and the Gerald Moore Award.
