Thaxted Festival : Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra

The Festival is privileged to host a concert by the Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra every two or three years. The enthusiasm, vitality, virtuosity and teamwork of these exceptional students, drawn from all over the world, is inspiring. It is also quite a thrill to see the evident pleasure that they take in the opportunity to play in the beauty and acoustic of Thaxted Church. Do not miss this chance to hear some of the soloists of tomorrow. This lovely programme may be subject to some change on educational grounds. Most of the works are well known. The Bach work survives in his own harpsichord arrangement - perhaps originally an oboe concerto. The central Largo is based on the beautiful oboe obbligato in his Cantata BWV 156.
