The Academy Choir Wimbledon presents a concert featuring the acclaimed Durufle Requiem alongside choral and organ works by Tchaikovsky. Under the direction of Matthew Best, the choir performs high quality choral works in the heart of Wimbledon joined by world-class guest soloists and orchestras.

Durufle’s Requiem is his most substantial work, composed in 1947, it assimilates the Gregorian Chant of the burial Mass into a work of wonderful colour, evoking moods of rest and peace rather than the dramatic versions of Berlioz and Verdi that had gone before.

The first half of the concert will feature selected works by Tchaikovsky including the stunning Legend (Crown of Roses ) and the three Cherubic Hymns from his Nine Sacred Pieces of 1885.

This will be a wonderful evening of stunning music performed by Wimbledon’s local choir.
