The regional branches of the Elgar Society put on talks for the general public.

This talk is put on by the South Western Branch of the Elgar Society.

The speaker will discuss Elgar's part-songs in a PowerPoint presentation with copious musical examples and with the scores or films of performances as appropriate.

Elgar's part-songs are not well known in England, and yet they are performed by choirs all over the world, and are popular in choral competitions.

Elgar wrote part-songs throughout his life and they contain some of his most advanced musical ideas, including bi-tonality and atonality.
