The Black Cat Opera Company brings Verdi’s Falstaff to Camberley Theatre on August 12-16th. Based on the character Sir John Falstaff from Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Falstaff is a joyously comic story of romance, jealousy, and deception – and probably the only opera in the repertory to include a defenestration!
Phillip Guy Bromley, a former principal with Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera and English National Opera, will sing the title role and direct the production. Philip Smith, who will make his debut with the Royal Opera in the autumn, performs the role of the jealous husband Ford.
Falstaff will be performed in Italian with English surtitles, and will be accompanied by the Orchestra of The Black Cat Opera Company.
