Prize - Award winning coloratura soprano Julia Kogan returns to the Sheldonian Theatre for a programme of arias in concert performance with Oxford Proms Orchestra conducted by John Traill. Her recent appearances at the New Theatre in Oxford in the role of Fiordiligi for the Oxford Philomusica production of Cosi Fan Tutte was hailed as "a tour de force" in the Oxford Times review on May 2015.
She will sing both Queen of the Night arias from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute plus Dvorák's spine tingling Song to the Moon, and 'O mio babbino caro' from Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, a shining moment of lyrical beauty. Our themed evening includes some best-loved opera interludes featuring soloists from the Oxford Proms Orchestra, plus the divine adagio from Mozart’s clarinet concerto with the orchestra’s principal clarinet Lucy Downer, and the composer’s joyful 'Paris' Symphony No 31.
