Wimbledon Choral Society celebrates its centenary season with a performance of one the great choral classics coupled with a blockbuster of a symphony, taking advantage of Royal Festival Hall’s recently rebuilt organ and working with an orchestra of some of the most talented young graduates and students of the London conservatoires.
The choir is joined by soloists Elizabeth Watts, an Artist in Residence at the Southbank Centre, and Jacques Imbrailo, hailed as ‘the hottest young baritone on the block’ in the Brahms Requiem, sung in German, a choral piece of universal appeal containing some of the most sublime music ever written, and, unlike some conventional settings of the Requiem Mass, its message is full of hope and comfort.
