The walls of St Martin in the Fields will resound with the stirring sound of Beethoven’s epic fifth Symphony to the flicker of candlelight performed by the stunning Piccadilly SInfonia.
One of London’s newest and most exciting orchestras, The Piccadilly Sinfonia is formed from some of the UK’s most outstanding young talent.
The evening will be rounded off with a performance of passion and fireworks in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 3, featuring virtuoso soloist Warren Mailley-Smith.
This is the first in a series of five concerts in which The Piccadilly Sinfonia performs five of Beethoven’s greatest symphonies and all five of his inspired piano concertos to celebrate the composer’s 250th birthday . This is a unique opportunity to hear Beethoven’s sublime music performed at one of London’s greatest Landmarks, just off Trafalgar Square.
Guest conductor and rising star, Tom Fetherstonhaugh takes the baton across this entire epic series, bringing a fresh insight into these well-worn masterpieces.
Concert pianist Warrren Mailley-Smith recently became the first britsh concert pianist to perform Chopin’s complete solo works from memory (3.5 million notes!) in a marathon 11 concert series. He is a favourite with Classic FM audiences for his brilliant technique and his warm informality on the platform. “Tall and talented, Warren Mailley-Smith is an embodiment of the modern romantic concert pianist” Musical Opinion
