Handel's Messiah is the best-known and best-loved choral work of all time. Building on the success of Crouch End Festival Chorus's performance and Chandos recording of J S Bach's St John Passion, the choir works once more with the Bach Camerata, a period orchestra, combining this authenticity of sound with the thrilling communicative power and dynamic range for which the choir is known. The work will sound magnificent in St John's Smith Square which was engulfed by fire in 1742, the same year that Messiah was first performed. Restoration then and also after World War Two has ensured the survival of this wonderful venue.
