What is home? In this special concert Kate Williams’s Four Plus Three, a collaboration between acclaimed jazz pianist/composer Kate Williams and The Guastalla Quartet, are joined by award-winning singer Georgia Mancio. Enjoy a performance of songs, old and newly co-written, for jazz trio, string quartet and voice, linked by the concept of home. Kate Williams’s Four Plus Three’s new album Finding Home features the acclaimed The Guastalla Quartet and will be available to purchase on the night.
Kate Williams has gained a reputation as both a writer and performer, having collaborated with jazz legend Bobby Wellins, Chris Biscoe and Julian Siegel. She has also performed for Interplay Series: Bill Evans and the Impressionists, a jazz concert co-created with conductor William Goodchild.
The Guastalla Quartet is a chamber music group dedicated to the exploration of the string quartet repertoire, from its roots to as-of-yet unwritten works. Formed in 2013, the Quartet brings together Swiss, German and English musicians from three of the finest conservatoires in Europe. Boasting an impressive wealth of experience, between them they have performed at world-famous venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall and the National Concert Hall of Taiwan.
Award-winning jazz vocalist and lyricist Georgia Mancio’s credits include working with Bobby McFerrin, Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll, Pat Metheny (lyric approval), as well as her own festivals ReVoice! and Hang.
