Born in South Korea, Yoon-Seok Shin began the piano at the age of 6. In 1991 he came to live in the United Kingdom continuing his studies with Prof. Andrew Zolinsky at the Junior Royal College of Music, London. During this time, he was a regular member at the yearly music festival hosted by the Old Freemen's Society where he was invited to perform on special occasions notably the 150th anniversary of Freemen’s Society at Guildhall in the presence of the Lord Mayor of London.
Yoon -eok graduated from the Royal College of Music, London after completing the prestigious Artist Diploma (ArtDip) in Performance and the Master of Music (MMus) in Advanced Performance under the tutelage of Prof. Andrew Ball. Previously, he gained his Bachelor of Music, BMus (Hons) in Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Trinity College of Music), London where he studied with Prof. Philip Fowke and was awarded 1st Class Honours.
In addition, Yoon-Seok was awarded the City Livery Club Prize in recognition of his outstanding performances and achievements. Yoon Seok has also been much in demand as a highly reputed teacher and his wide range of students have excelled in both exams and competitions. He is recently appointed and working as a peripatetic piano teacher at the Holy Cross Catholic Secondary Girl’s School in New Malden, UK and as a School Assistant/Staff in Chetham’s International Summer School and Festival for Pianists in Manchester, UK.
