After five highly successful Festivals from 2013 to 2017 which focused exclusively on the music of Brahms, Schubert and Mendelssohn, Mozart and Beethoven respectively, the sixth Whittington International Chamber Music Festival will take a different turn and provide an 'immersion experience' in the wonderful music of Britain - fifteen British composers will be represented. From 15 - 20 May, our fifteen international artists will play six concerts in this delightful Shropshire village. The church has a perfect acoustic and a good view from all pews -uninterrupted by pillars. James Barralet (cellist) is our Artistic Director. This year he will be joined by fourteen other world-class musicians. Between them all, they represent seven nationalities - UK, Belgium, France, Catalonia, Poland, Russia and Holland.
Schools workshops for four schools will be taking place on Thursday 17th May.
The musicians will also provide a workshop and performance at Oswestry Borders U3A on Wednesday 16th May at 1.45pm.
Ten young Shropshire musicians will rehearse and the play onstage with the professionals in the concert on Friday 18th May in a 10-minute arrangement of a medley of British folk songs, arranged by Artistic Director, James Barralet.
