*This concert has been cancelled owing to the bad weather*
Our spring concert concentrates mainly on the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, including his rarely-heard Mass in honour of the Most Holy Trinity written in 1773 (at the age of 18), and motet Misericordias Domini written two years later as an example of his compositional skill. It also features works by JS Bach (O Jesu Christ, meins lebens licht) and Franz Joseph Haydn (Insanae et vanae curae). The pieces by Haydn and Mozart show their flair for music both dramatic and lyrical, while Bach’s motet exhibits his mastery of texture and vocal writing that reach emotional depths with the simplest of music. Instrumental pieces by Mozart and Haydn complete this attractive and accessible programme.
