London chamber choir Canticum look forward to taking you on a musical journey around the world. They bring their versatile, expressive choral sound to explore folksongs of all sorts, from arrangements of traditional English folksongs by Vaughan Williams and Hywel Davies (the world premiere of a new set of arrangements written for Canticum), to exotic sounds such as a Mongolian shepherd's song, Nigerian and Sotho songs, and 'Small Sky' by the Japanese composer Takemitsu. Orlando Gough's work Tall Stories, a choral song-cycle about immigration to New York in the early 20th century, receives its second performance. Sibelius's Finlandia Hymn, the Neapolitan song Santa Lucia and Grainger's setting of 'Danny Boy' will be very familiar tunes to almost everyone; and we return via South America with Berger's Brazilian Psalm.
