A trio of pieces in baroque and classical styleare at the heart of Ruth and Ben’s lunchtime concert, with Mozart’s ‘Duo’ standing out as a small-scale masterpiece.
The Duo was clearly the inspiration for Bohuslav Martinu’s colourful ‘Madrigals’, written soon after the composer settled in New York in 1947 and during a period when he was fascinated with the music of Haydn and Mozart.
