This is the 140th Anniversary of the formation of Ayr Choral Union - one of Scotland oldest choirs with a continuous history as an organisation since October 1876. We are performing a celebration concert of our 'greatest hits', with some of our favourite soloists - Marie Claire Breen (soprano), Cheryl Forbes (alto) Andrew McTaggart (baritone) and Gordon Cree on the organ. The programme, compiled from intensive research by our archivists, has something for everyone - including an exciting new James MacMillan premier performance written for the choir - and birthday cake, fizz and an exhibition of memorabilia are all included in the ticket price.
A souvenir booklet and a new history of Ayr Choral Union are in process of completion. We are delighted that so many former members are joining us to sing in the concert and hope that friends old and new will join us in the audience on Sunday 30 October 2016 at the earlier than usual time of 7pm.
