The FifteenB Consort will be presenting a sequence of plainchant and polyphonic motets for Vespers. The concert will be in aid of St Mary’s Development Fund.
The sequence opens with Robert Parsons Ave Maria followed by Vespers motets by Tomas Luis de Victoria and Alessandro Grandi. The FifteenB Consort will be premiering a new setting of the Vespers hymn, Lucis Creator Optime by their Artistic Director Robert Hugill. The Vespers sequence will be concluded with Robert Fayrfax’s magnificent Magnificat Regale from the Eton Choir Book. The programme ends with motets dedicated to the Virgin Mary, including Hugh Aston’s Gaude, mater matris Christi and Walter Frye’s Salve Virgo, dating from mid-15th century this is the earliest item on the programme.
