Note: Nottingham Symphony Orchestra draws together an array of talented musicians to form arguably the premier amateur orchestra in Britain. Established for over 70 years, NSO has gained a reputation for providing entertaining programmes of music to a diverse audience through an annual series of concerts. In 2002 NSO played a major part in Nottingham’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations, playing to HM The Queen at the National Ice Arena. In 2004 the orchestra made its TV debut by appearing in an episode of BBC1’s major six-part drama A Thing Called Love which was set in Nottingham. NSO has successfully staged three concerts in the Royal Concert Hall – Come Fly With Us! in 2004 which featured Opera Babes, All Aboard the Orient-Express in 2006 with host Aled Jones and young singing sensation Keedie, and Let’s Dance! in 2008 - an evening of music and dance in aid of the British Red Cross and hosted by Anne Davies of BBC East Midlands Today.
