Note: Rachmaninov’s Vespers (otherwise known by the names Songs of the Church and All-Night Vigil) are highly accessible to audiences, composed as they were in 1916 on the brink of the catastrophic Russian revolution. Their mystery and the soul-searching melodies will reverberate hauntingly with the excellent acoustics of the Victorian St. Paul’s Church.

Vivaldi’s Gloria, composed two hundred years earlier in 1715, will provide a wonderful contrast to the meditative harmonies of the Vespers. It is one of the all time classical choral greats and the choir is delighted to welcome back the baroque ensemble Charivari Agréable Simfonie, recognised as “one of the classiest baroque bands” [Observer].
