The Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus’ concert presentation of The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess(with narration and without sets or costumes) will feature such outstanding opera luminaries as Angela Brown as Bess, Kishna Davis as Clara, Lester Lynch as Porgy, Keavin Deas as Crown, and Jermaine Smith as Sportin’ Life, joined by several other outstanding artists. This groundbreaking work is known the world over through such landmark songs as Summertime, I Got Plenty O’ Nuthin’ and My Man’s Gone Now, to name just a few of the highlights. Porgy and Bess broke the color barrier for serious opera and is experiencing a renaissance of new productions from symphony orchestras and opera companies across the country. Under the leadership of Music Director Steven Smith and General Director Gregory Heltman, this production will be a musical benchmark in Santa Fe that will stand for years to come. |
