Where: Usher Hall, Edinburgh
Performers: Scottish Chamber Orchestra
Joseph Swensen, conductor
Stephen Kovacevich, piano
Programme :Johannes Brahms
1:Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 1 in D minor, Op 15
 Ludwig van Beethoven
2:Symphony No 3 in E flat, 'Eroica', Op 55
Note: Following the enormous success of their Beethoven Piano Concertos series in 2003, Joseph Swensen and Stephen Kovacevich are reunited to perform Brahms’s Piano Concerto No 1, a perfect platform for Kovacevich’s virtuosic talent. Appropriately and poignantly, in Joseph’s final year as Principal Conductor, the concert concludes with Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony. This is the work in which he first conducted the SCO and the early signs of their special rapport became evident, swiftly leading to his appointment as Principal Conductor and the nine years of musical partnership which have followed.
