The Snowden-Sir Duo, a beguiling combination of guitar and violin, will join The Ionian Singers under their conductor Timothy Salter in a programme of music from the seventeenth century to the present.

Laura Snowden (guitar) and Joo Yeon Sir (violin) are composers as well as outstanding performers. They will play two of their own works and music by de Falla, Mompou and Debussy. Their arrangements of chorale preludes by JS Bach will include two with chorus.

The Ionian Singers will perform German and French music by Schein, Hindemith, Ravel (Trois Chansons), Poulenc and Fauré (his engaging Madrigal in the Duo’s arrangement with guitar and violin). A group of Salter’s ever-popular English folk-song arrangements, including the first performance of two new ones, completes the programme.
