London Contemporary Guitar Series presents US master jazz guitarist Howard Alden, with classical guitarist/composer Matthew Sear in a concert of various works by Matthew other composers.

Eminent US jazz guitarist Howard Alden shares this concert with two British classical guitarists/composers, Matthew Sear and David Braid in this concert that explores three different aspects of contemporary guitar music: jazz, classical and new classical repertoire for the jazz guitar. Howard, who played on the soundtrack to the 1999 Woody Allen movie ‘Sweet and Lowdown’ has established himself as one of the world’s greatest players, and since the 90s has focussed on playing a 7-string guitar. Owen Cordle said in JazzTimes: "He may be the best of his generation".

London-born Matthew Sear is a guitarist and composer noted for compositions that borrow from various genres, classical magazine ‘Fanfare’ (in 2014) singling out his composition ‘The America Suite’ for its fusing of bluegrass, jazz and classical, describing him as “... a fine guitar composer with a chameleon-like talent...”Matthew has performed as a classical/jazz soloist throughout North America and Europe and is a proud member of ‘music in hospitals’ - a charity that provides live music in a hospital environment.
