From the swirling discord of chaos, to the ordered beauty in the Garden of Eden, Haydn’s great oratorio, The Creation, is full of wonderful musical descriptions, which will be brought out in exquisite detail by the period instruments of the Durham Singers Ensemble, led by Caroline Balding. Samling Artist Bradley Travis leads the trio of angels who guide us through Haydn’s universe, whilst the other two angels, and the parts of Adam and Eve will be sung by rising stars from Samling Academy.
The Durham Singers return to Haydn’s original intentions in their choice of words, using an edition based on the original English libretto that Haydn studied in London and that he used for his own English performances.
