Four hundred years after its composition Tallis’s Spem in alium remains one of the most spectacular pieces of music we have. It sits at the heart of this performance, for the rightly lauded The Cardinall’s Musick in its Christ Church birthplace. Growing from the vision of director Andrew Carwood, The Cardinall’s Musick has gone on to conquer the world with its massively accomplished research and performance of renaissance polyphony and much more. Christ Church Cathedral Choir joins forces with the ensemble for the two great 40-part works at the heart of this programme.
