Making his Wales debut and a rare UK appearance, superstar French harpist Xavier de Maistre closes Gregynog Festival's 2015 season in the spectacular setting of the Gregynog Gallery at National Museum Cardiff, with a programme of virtuosic repertoire designed to showcase his skills as well as to complement the famous Davies Collection of Impressionist art and sculpture. The recital includes the world première performance of the 2015 Gregynog Festival commission by French composer Richard Dubugnon, Après une visite à Gregynog, Op 73, a score which takes the form of a triptych and is inspired by three masterpieces in the Davies Collection by Cézanne, Monet and Van Gogh.

'A virtuoso of the highest order, profoundly musical and capable of realizing a remarkable range of nuance' (Gramophone)

Founded in 1933, Gregynog Festival is the oldest extant classical music festival in Wales and features performances by the world's leading musicians in intimate historic locations. Details of the Festival's 2016 season, which will take place between 17-26 June and 18-20 November 2016 and has been curated on the theme of Ireland, will be announced for the first time at this recital.
