Ely Youth Choir Festival Concert

Come and listen to the next generation of choral singers! Ely Youth Choir hosts the second Ely Youth Choir Festival, culminating in this Festival Concert at The Hayward Theatre, King's School, Ely. Members of three Youth Choirs from Cambridgeshire and Essex will perform together after a day of workshops and rehearsals directed by four leading Youth Music conductors. The programme features a wide range of music including classical, chart, world and musical theatre pieces. In a press review of the first Festival Concert, critic Rosemary Westwell said, "The singers were in fine voice, creating moments of excitement and beauty....It was obvious from the start that these young singers were thoroughly enjoying themselves...What particularly impressed me was the natural beauty of the tone...Many of the songs were not easy - there were a number of challenges to overcome, especially with some of the more sophisticated harmonies and energising rhythms."

The concert will end at 7pm. This year's Festival Concert mentor, distinguished local musician, teacher and Examiner Vivien Laird, will bring the Festival to a conclusion with some encouraging remarks to the perfomers.
