A Sequence for Lent, with chorales by JS Bach alternating with motets by Byrd, Bruckner and Victoria, opens a concert to be given by The Ionian Singers with Timothy Salter, conductor and organist, in All Saints’ Church, West Dulwich, on Saturday 14th March at 7.30pm. JS Bach’s great funeral motet Jesu, meine Freude (Jesu, my joy) and anthems by Purcell, Hear my prayer and his majestic Lord, how long wilt thou be angry? continue the Lenten theme. The programme includes three motets for Maundy Thursday by Rubbra and Warlock's partsong All the Flowers of the Spring. In Paradisum from Fauré’s Requiem will close the concert.
