  1. String Quartet No 3 in C Sharp major - Bela Bartók
  2. Piano Quintet in E Op 15 - Erich Korngold
  3. String Sextet in A Op 48 - Antonín Dvorák

This year’s festival programme is split into three stands, each of which explores a very different aspect of musical history. In Search of the New World charts the work of composers who crossed the Atlantic, before and after their voyages to America. Dvorák, Bartók and Korngold all found success both in Europe and the ‘New World’ and music writer Stephen Walsh examines their work and experiences in a pre-concert talk. The concert itself features three very different works – Bartók’s compact and austere Third String Quartet, Korngold’s masterly Piano Quintet with its textural bravura, and Dvorák’s leisurely and beautiful String Sextet.

This closing concert of the 2015 Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival showcases a host of Europe’s finest chamber musicians, including the festival’s co-artistic director Simon Crawford-Phillips and the Aurea Quartet, the 2015 Quartet in Residence.
