A favourite among opera audiences, Canadian soprano Barbara Hannigan has also received much acclaim for her performances of works by Hungarian composer, György Ligeti. She has sung his Mysteries of the Macabre, a tour de force for soprano and orchestra across the world and in this concert performs it alongside Ligeti’s energy-fuelled Concert Românesc. Two spirited Rossini overtures, some of Mozart’s most popular songs and Weber’s virtuosic Concertino for Horn make up the rest of this captivating programme.

“The chamber orchestra served as accompaniment to one of the best vocal performances on a New York stage in quite some time…This is singing as an extreme sport, and Ms Hannigan was nothing short of electrifying.” New York Sun
