The William Alwyn Festival 2014 | Prometheus Orchestra

To bring the Alwyn Festival to a resplendent close we welcome back the Prometheus Orchestra under the direction of Edmond Fivet. Alwyn's profoundly moving Tragic Interlude is paired with his Flute Concerto, originally for flute and eight wind instruments, but presented here in the orchestral version prepared by the eminent British composer John McCabe, who this year celebrates his 75th birthday. To mark the centenary of the birth of Polish composer Andrzej Panufnik we present this delightful work for flute and string orchestra. Alongside these works are Mozart's effervescent Overture from The Marriage of Figaro and Beethoven's powerful Eroica symphony. Not to be missed!
