Only a few years separate the two Haydn works of which the second, written during the Napoleonic Wars, was given this specific title by the composer. The concert begins with Michael Stubbs’s piece, written to commemorate a close relative who died in the second world war.

Access by lift for this concert is through the car park entrance. Doors normally open at 7pm and interval refreshments are available. The Cathedral car park is available for this concert for a charge of £3 on entry
